Local chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas sets kickoff

Sept. 8 session to feature brunch, historic tour, plans and goals

The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will kick off their 2018-2019 year with a brunch at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center.

Chapter officers will be the hostesses. During the brunch members will have a look back at last year's accomplishments and a look forward to next year's plans and goals. Following a brief business meeting, chapter members and guests will go to the Center Sanitarium for a program by Gina Ferren.

David and Deborah Chadwick have graciously agreed to allow us to tour the restored 1870s house that later became a hospital in Center. Group officials said they have an exciting year ahead, exploring Texas history, honoring those ancestors who achieved the independence of Texas and breaking bread together at meetings. Come be a part of it. If you have any questions, call Maggie at (936) 248-3361.
