COVID-19 situation at Carthage's Briarcliff facility improving, says county judge
Panola County Judge Lee Ann Jones on Wednesday morning reported the county's Briarcliff Skilled Nursing Center in Carthage continued to be hard hit by the COVID-19/coronavirus.
But, she said, things at the facility are improving.
“Briarcliff hoping to be COVID free by end of this week,” Jones said in a social media posting. Briarcliff has been the location of more than one third of the county's COVID-19 cases.
She said 72 of Panola County's confirmed COVID-19 cases were attrributed to Briarcliff with 11 of the county's 22 deaths attributed to the facility between both residents and staff.
There have been 21 victim recoveries reported for Briarcliff, she said.
As of Wednesday morning, Jones said Panola County has had two additional positive cases confirmed in the general population and there have also been two more victims recover.
Another facility, Panola Nursing Home, has had 38 confirmed cases with eight of the county's COVID-19 deaths connected to the facility, she said.
Cumulative there have now been 196 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Panola County, Jones said.
