SUNDAY: Shelby County's confirmed COVID-19 count increases to 11

Caddo Parish COVID-19 death count jumps to 19 as of Sunday

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19/coronavirus in Shelby County increased to 11, according to the Texas State Department of Health Services in an update issued Sunday afternoon.

That was up by one from the previous report issued on Saturday.

In Nacogdoches County the number of confirmed cases reported Sunday increased to 16, up from the 12 reported Saturday. One COVID-19 attributed death has also been reported in Nacogdoches County.

Both Panola and San Augustine counties have each recorded one death attributed to COVID-19/coronavirus. Both Panola and San Augustine counties had four confirmed cases as of Sunday, accordingt to state health officials.

Across the Sabine River in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, the number of confirmed cases rose to 80, up by nine from the 71 Louisiana health officials reported on Saturday. The death count attributed to COVID-19 in DeSoto Parish remained at three in Sunday's reporting period.

Caddo Parish in the Shreveport area continued to be the Northwest Louisiana hot spot for the pandemic. Confirmed cases there stood at 647 on Sunday, up from 598 on Saturday.

But the number of COVID-19 attributed deaths in Caddo Parish nearly doubled. On Sunday, state officials reported 19 deaths there, up from 10 just a day before.

Statewide in Texas, the number of confirmed cases jumped by more than 900, going from 5,840 during Satuday's noon report, to 6,812 on Sunday. Texas added 10 more deaths to its COVID-19 outbreak, with 10 reported Saturday.

The death toll linked to COVID-19 in Texas jumped to 127 on Sunday, according to the state.

Harris County continued to lead the state in number of confirmed cases, at 1,284, while Dallas County had 1,015 as of Sunday.Northeast Texas case count
