Fundraiser set Friday, June 21, on Center Square for Craig 'Burrhead' Jones

From 10:30-1 p.m Friday Shelby County Cookers will be raising money for Huxley family

The Shelby County Cookers will be hosting a fundraiser on the Center Square for Craig ‘Burrhead’ Jones from 10:30 a.m to 1 p.m on June 21.

“You can preorder by Wednesday, June 19 or you can pull up and order a plate the day of,” organizer Andrea Mackleroy said. “We are up to 200 pre-orders and are hoping to sell 600 plates. If we could get 3,000-5,000 dollars raised, that would be awesome.”

The plate will offer BBQ chicken quarters, beans, potato salad, dessert, bread, bottled water for $10 and will also have a lemonade stand for $2 per cup.

“This fundraiser will help with medical expenses and travel expenses,” Mackleroy said. “He has kidney cancer that has metastasized into his lungs. They are doing experimental procedures and he is taking two types of medication. A group of ladies from Center, Huxley, and Logansport has kind of helped set this up. That family has always given so much to the Joaquin area that we just want to help them out.

We look forward to seeing everybody out. Shelby County is the most giving community around, people have already been giving us donations. I am so proud to live in this town.”
