Cherry Steinwender - Making Peace with the Past

Cherry Steinwender, executive director of The Center For The Healing of Racism, was the keynote speaker Saturday,  Dec. 15, 2018, for a Community Rembrance Program recognizing racial lynchings in Center, Texas, and the South in general. She highlighted both how far Americans have come and how far they still have to go in healing race issues of the past.

Delbert Jackson, an organizer of the program and the unveiling ceremony of a marker memorializing two lynchings which took place in Shelby County in the 1920s, said more that 330 lynchings of African Americans have been documented in Texas.
