Body of Tenaha man discovered Saturday by hunter

Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell on Monday reported the body of Robert Thomas, 50, of Tenaha was found by a hunter on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Blackwell said in a press release Thomas was located on the south side of Loop 500. He appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy has been ordered. Thomas was reported missing Sept. 18.

  The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office had been seeking the whereabouts of Thomas since then. Thomas was reportedly last seen Sept 17, at a residence off County Road 4360 in Tenaha.

He reportedly left the residence in an unknown direction of travel, according to the sheriff's office at the time.
