Fate of returning Civil War soldiers topic of Saturday program
Mansfield State Historic Site will examine the fate of soldiers who returned home after the Civil War, in particular, those of the Red River Campaign, and what their lives were like after the war ended in a presentation set for Saturday, Nov. 9.
What happened to them? How did they transition into their new lives? Historians will look at those who returned home to settle as well as those who sought to make a new life for themselves in the vastness of the American West.
The presentation will take place in the museum theater at 2 p.m. this Saturday.
