Center Amateur Softball Association holds sign ups

Fall co-ed league forming in Center

Up until recently, if you were interested in an adult softball league, you had to make the drive all the way out to Nacogdoches. A group of people living here in Shelby County are trying to change that with the all new Center Amateur Softball Association.

The Center Amateur Softball Association is a co-ed softball league formed with the intent of proceeds going to directly benefit the Center Youth Girls Softball teams. There’s nothing like having a good time while helping to further a worthy cause.

One goal the association has their eye on is a set of batting cages for their youth softball players. Of course, turn out will be a deciding factor as to whether they will be able to reach this ambition.

That’s where you come in. If you or anyone you know is interested in starting a softball team to compete with the Center Amateur Softball Association please contact Kirk Sanford at 936-590-1166, Cody Miller at 936-591-4100, or Sean Crouch at 936-590-2754.

Any of these gentlemen will be able to answer any of your questions regarding the softball association.

Sign-ups will be held through September 7, so be sure to get signed up before it’s too late. Games will be held at the City of Center Girls Softball Complex.

The first set of games will be held on September 17, and the season will hopefully run somewhere between five and seven weeks depending on how many teams make up the league. The sign-up fee for a team is $385 and includes team insurance.
