Winston Roger Warr, Jr., a Center native, died at home in Tucson, Ariz. on July 19, 2023. He was 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Boothe Warr and Winston Roger Warr, Sr. (“Winkie”), two sisters, Patsy Warr and Diane Warr, and his youngest child, Anna Warr.

Winston graduated from Center High School, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Texas Medical Branch. His medical career included teaching at the University of Arkansas Medical School and the University of Arizona Medical School, public health in Austin, and general internal medicine practice.

He is survived by Diana, his wife of 65 years, three children, Winston Roger Warr, III (Renee), Carter Warr, and Amy Warr, and five grandchildren, Isabella Ricci, Cristina Ricci, Hiram Corbett, Athena Warr, and Tyler Adler.

Winston spoke often of his wonderful childhood in Center. He loved ice cream and making people laugh. His love of life and quirky sense of humor will be missed. His favorite t-shirt said “Irony, the opposite of Wrinkly.”

The Warr family will inter Winston’s and Vickie’s ashes in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, April 13 at 10:30 am. There will be no service, but any friends wishing to join the family for an informal gathering are welcome at the gravesite.
