The third annual Friends of Center Athletic Booster Golf Tournament Fundraiser Saturday, May 20 was by all accounts a tremendous success.

A total figure was not available at press time, but according to Center Athletic Booster Club Ben Wulf, a record number of teams teed off Saturday, and there was some concern for having enough food for the crawfish boil Saturday night.

Bidding on silent auction items was brisk as raffle ticket purchasers reviewed the large selection of items donated by supporters and businesses.

Live music entertainment Saturday night was by Louisiana Cajun band, Travis Matte and the Kingpins.

The Friends of Center Roughrider Athletics fundraiser’s goal is to build a $500,000 perpetual fund over the course of five years through donations and community events. Once the financial threshold has been reached, the annual earned proceeds would be distributed to the Center Athletic Department annually. As the fund grows, the annual disbursements will grow as well.

Center Athletic Department sports programs that will benefit from the disbursements includes all sports, female and male, within the athletic program. Current programs include basketball, football, baseball, softball, track, tennis, powerlifting, volleyball, soccer, golf, cross country running, and soccer.

Friends of Center Athletics is a non-profit 501C-3 entity. For more information regarding Friends of Center Athletic Boosters, call Ben Wulf at 936-5902003 or email centerathleticboosters@ gmail.com.
